Geraldine McEwan is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist working
primarily with voice and violin. Her interest lies in live performance
through the exploration of the violin, using it not only as an
instrument but also a controller to shift heavy, dense sound textures
through electronic machines.
She has worked within a
broad range of genres from classical to noise, baroque to rock, and
uses digital manipulation and signal processing to colour her own unique
sound.
Geraldine has collaborated and performed with various artists such as
the programming/music group The CaneToad Orchestra, harsh noise with
HYLICS, semi-electronic, free-improvisers the Vultures, baroque
violinist Andrew Manze and the English Concert orchestra, burlesque
performances with dance and circus acts and has performed in a range of
venues including concert halls, jazz clubs, pubs, basements and streets.
Her work in music has seen Geraldine conducting orchestral and choral
pieces, instrumental and theoretic tutoring, workshop leading, ensemble
coaching, composition and arranging.
